I have recently contributed an essay to the book ‘Designing for Emerging Technologies’. In my essay, I am arguing that in the light of the technologies on the horizon today, designers are uniquely placed to offer valuable translation skills enabling a wider discourse about the promises and potential outcomes of emerging technologies. This is not only a new extended idea of how designers think of what design is, but also challenges all other disciplines to look at designers for meaningful and substantial contribution beyond beautification or user-friendliness.
